I depend a lot on my habits to be productive and efficient in my personal and professional routines. Habits have helped me get better slightly every day which becomes a lot better in a couple of months. I use habits for learning oil paintings, consistently working out, controlling my diet, gardening and being productive at my work.

This started some time back some one year ago - when I overheard a friend telling how he learnt to play the guitar like a pro along with his tough office routine. He just said one thing - "I played for 15 min. every day without fail for the last four years.".


I personally have never like Self-help books - and I was very reluctant when I started reading Atomic Habits. I was afraid that my own resolve and habits that are serving me well may get disrupted. It was a real shock when I realized that I had been unintentionally following many of the recommendations James Clear makes in this book. Most people already know that they should develop good habits - but very rarely they create a system to make these good habits their routine.


This book helped me rationalize many of the benefits that I had been observing in myself. This book gave me a context and a story to further convince myself to seriously continue the good habits. It has only strengthened my resolve and has also provided me with more tricks to get better in my habits.


The biggest learning was that the same process which I was using to gain new habits could also be used for eliminating bad habits - which I was not focusing on.


I would recommend this book for everyone who aspires to be a better version of themselves. But I will also advise everyone who is looking to drop a bad habit - from smoking, eating junk food, social media addiction, wasting time on games etc. to pick up this book once.


But more than the book - I will recommend everyone to first internalize that habits can make you better. Happy reading
